Thanks to all those New Year Greetings from relatives and friends for the past couple of weeks, really appreciate them all. Hopefully they are feeling great too for the past first week and for the next 51 weeks ahead. I'm sure we all have our own plan for direction to go about the New Year. Same old road, venturing new road, rough road, highway or even no road at all. Whatever it is, there must be a decision to choose one.

For me, where am I going? Year 2009 has been putting me on the crossroad for quite sometime and it doesn't feel good just watching people passing by. Uncertain about the situation. Unable to understand myself. Not good at all.

And now it's 2010. I'm taking a deep breath, closing my eyes, emptying my mind, focusing on my direction. One thing at a time, I'll take the rule of the road - it's like starting my trip in a car. God bless, from there onward, I'll be on the road again at the right speed. And most important for 2010, I'll be a BATMAN!

PPShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00311462657671641616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3470240368761650277.post-44726128293285388732009-12-23T22:47:00.005+08:002009-12-29T23:02:29.352+08:00Thank You 2009 and Welcome 2010
It's a matter of days left in 2009 and then 2010 will take over for the next 12 months. It has been a good but challenging year for me with a wet, wet beginning in Matu due to the floods. The flood gave me a rare experience of being a victim myself and at the same time being in the responsibility to manage other victims. Hopefully there'll be no flood in Matu or elsewhere in Mukah Division or in Sarawak in 2010.

My Matu days was cut short as I have to take up a new responsibility in Mukah on April 17, right at the start of the famous Kaul Festival. I'm happy cos it's nearer to home but on April 19, everything changed. My beloved father left me forever...

From there onward, 2009 moved on at a different pace, probably an uncertain direction. Life has been very challenging. It was struggling on and friends has been very kind. The power of friends is just beautiful, they made me a stronger person and I hope that I've made them stronger persons too along the way.

Then I came to Facebook and there I got more friends everyday.

So to all friends, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very, very Happy New Year 2010. May all your dreams comes true and our life be filled with love and peace always.

PPShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00311462657671641616noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3470240368761650277.post-59297742937124480582009-08-26T08:01:00.011+08:002009-08-27T11:43:24.369+08:00On & Off August
August is moving towards the end and Malaysia's National Day will roll up the month, although there was no MALAYSIA yet on August 31st 1957 until some years later on a different date. That I leave it open. And this posting is just to recall some dates around August which I would like to keep records on.

Haze, drought and bush fires dragged into August from July until rain cleared the skies of Sarawak a week in, and Mukah got the big share from the cloud-seeding (is it?) on August 11th. What a relief for everybody. But it looks like we should be preparing for the wet days, I mean very wet days now. Flood? Oh no, not again, please. Soft landing, please! Whatever, go to be ready.

August 16th 2009 was the 32nd anniversary of the King of Rock n Roll's death, who died mysteriously at 42 in his home at Graceland, Memphis. Love his songs, especially on live concerts. Elvis Aaron Presley is Always On My Mind, though his death caused some Suspicious Mind among someone in the Heartbreak Hotel on Blue Suede Shoes, doing the Jailhouse Rock....and many, many more!

August 16th is also a big day for my Yummy Yummy. It's her birthday. Happy Birthday, my dear. Don't mind to tell me how old (young) you are? Still a secret....hmmm, okay. A year older, a year wiser and richer, too. Start to have silver in our hair, gold in our teeth, an extra pair of eyes and so on.

Come August 22nd. Number 22, my favourite huh. That's my second son, Arthur-Garret's birthday, 22 years old. Second of the Fantastic Four, no girls team. Happy Birthday, young man.

The fasting month for our Muslim friends started on the same day and so is the Bazaar Ramadhan. Time to share the spirit of 1Malaysia. See you there. Selamat Berpuasa to our Muslim friends.

Wow, school holiday is here, too. Holiday time for our kids till August 31st. But not so holiday for my 3rd boy, Eugene who will be having his SPM examination soon. Study smart and good luck, son.

Winding up August will be the National Day. No big do. Fasting month, H1N1 will put the celebration on a much smaller scale but hopefully with the same level of 1Malaysia feeling.

Happy Merdeka Month and Happy Merdeka Day, friends.

PPShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00311462657671641616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3470240368761650277.post-83846342955770985542009-07-17T14:01:00.004+08:002009-07-17T14:56:43.991+08:00The Green Team Of Menara Pehin Setia Raja
I called them the Green Team of Menara Pehin Setia Raja, Mukah. Cigarettes, cigars, pipes etc. Some likes it, some don't. Some smoke for peace (smoke peace pipe, no war!!) or some maybe for real peace of mind. Some may just smoke for fun (at least that's what they say). For whatever reason, they still produce smokes. For peace, for real or for fun, there's still smokes in the air.

While some enjoy smoking (especially after meal - considered compulsory), someone somewhere is struggling to stop. And so the 'war' is on.

Quit Campaign

There's nothing wrong with smoking, anyway. Hazardous to health, pollution are some common 'warning' about smoking. The 'Tak Nak' campaign and then the 'scary' (is it?) pictures on the cigarette packets are some reminders to smokers about the 'not so good side' of smoking. So the authorities have done part to help smokers stop smoking. Some will, some will try, some will put it on their next year's 'azam' and some will never will unless a medical adviser say so.

I Quit, My Way

I was once a smoker myself, very much committed to it for 10 years. (whole of the 1980s) Tried to quit on numerous occasion but will only last for a week or even a month or two and then there it comes again. But 23rd December 1989 made the difference. Enjoying my cigarette alone in the office, I suddenly have this 'silly' idea of comparing the similarities between cigarette smokes and the smoke from rubbish burning. Of course the smoke from the rubbish fire will be the unlucky one. Nobody likes it - dirty, smelly etc. That 'silly' idea has made myself in a 'silly' situation - hating the other and enjoying another. Without finishing that last stick, off it goes and so is the rest of its balance in the packet. Damn easy, no substitute, no nothing - just me and that 'silly' idea and never look back.

The Secret a.k.a. The Strength

Yes, never looking back. I never look back at smoking by looking forward at freedom. Freedom is what everybody wants. Smoking has robbed me of all those freedom that I should have enjoyed. I don't smoke in front of my kids - that's at least five minutes less time with them each stick. We can't smoke in the office, in meetings or other public places - so we have to 'hide' somewhere to recharge. Going out of stock at times we really need one will turn us crazy. We willingly become loyal to the habit - sacrificing freedom.

After almost 20 years of non-smoking days and nights, freedom is my strength. Look at what freedom means to us, appreciate it, enjoy it. But if you still enjoy smoking, just go on. If otherwise, think of the FREEDOM that you will enjoy. I'm not campaigning for any side but just to share some experience....with both side.

GOOD LUCK

PPShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00311462657671641616noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3470240368761650277.post-31434562387344013912009-05-26T13:01:00.006+08:002009-05-26T16:53:40.650+08:00The Spidermen of Menara Pehin Setia Raja
The Spidermen of Menara Pehin Setia Raja is in action again this week, making sure the glass panels around the building are clean all year round. Today, May 13th 2009 - nothing big, nothing special (although everyday is big and special in its own way) but just another day, another Wednesday of the week.

But the date has some 'old story' to tell if we bring it back to 1969. May 13th 1969 - a date some of us may want to forget or maybe some want to treasure, depending on how we look at it. Everything happen for a reason, and so is May 13th 1969. I was 10 years old then, so I don't really have any first hand knowledge about it. Through reading, it sounds 'bad' and definitely 'not interesting' to the naturally multi-racial Malaysia.

So on this day, as much as we treasured other 'big' days such as the New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Nurses' Day and many more to come, May 13th 1969 may be remembered as the main ingredient to 1Malaysia, the Malaysia that should have been. A 'Malaysia' where everybody is proud to call themselves Malaysians.

May 13th 1969 - a price paid for a lesson. 1Malaysia - a sacrifice need to be made.

Proud to be Malaysian. Peace.

PPShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00311462657671641616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3470240368761650277.post-48269821042639517132009-05-07T08:32:00.007+08:002009-05-07T08:56:18.895+08:00My Favourite Number
May 3 2009, my Kembara reached my favourite number(s) - 22222 followed by 22259 during my 7-hour drive from Sri Aman to Mukah.

Number 2 is my all-time favourite. But comes tomorrow, April 7 is for real. As I'm finding words and ideas for this posting, I'm sure our hard-working election campaigners in the three constituencies are busy finding the best space on the table for the last piece of the puzzle. Some work hard, some work smart, maybe some hardly work!

To work hard may be easily understood. It's about playing all the cards on the table. But to work smart, it's about playing the right card at the right time. And so are these by-elections' workers. We've seen them work hard but we can't be sure whether they've work smart . Personally, I believe that those who work smart will have a better chance of finding their way through. We'll see tomorrow.

As for now, the campaigners will have an 8-hour cooling down between 12.00 midnight tonight and 8.00 am tomorrow where the voters will take over. The talking has been done, hopefully convincing enough. By 8.00 am, it will be interpreted onto the ballot papers. While every candidate is confident of winning, only the ballot papers will have the final say.

Good luck. Tomorrow will be April 1 and the first thing that we will think of is the April Fool. Never mind, just do what should be done, even to the extend of fooling your friend(s), in the spirit of April Fool, even though nobody is certain of how April Fool got its name unlike the Valentine's Day.

But what makes April full? Right, as I've said, March is the end of the first quarter of the current year. So, what's our first quarter report? We need to look back and prepare the report. A report needed to plan for the next quarter, the quarter that will make the first half of 2009. That should make our 'table' full.

Besides the 'reporting' and 'planning' business for the next quarter, Mukah will have some real business to do. This fast-growing coastal town will be full with activities of the Pesta Kaul 2009, which will start as early as the middle of April even though the official 'ritual' will be by the last weekend of the month. So, to make sure that you'll be up-dated with the activities, I'll post them once they've been confirmed by the organisers.

See, April is full (and fool if you want to do it on April 1). And just imagine if there is somebody telling you, "I want to see the report of the first quarter on my table tomorrow!!!". Come April 1, he'll just say, "It's April Fool , my friend"

PPShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00311462657671641616noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3470240368761650277.post-57790953870982406812009-03-28T13:53:00.005+08:002009-03-28T14:55:52.805+08:00Go Ferrari
F1 2009 season vroooms off today in Melbourne with the qualifying round. Starting off with 3 holes then, presently the golf course is a nine-hole par 35 stretching 2,515 meters in between the army offices and quarters buildings. Due to the ‘not so fair’ fairway, golf is played under the local rule of ‘preferred lie’ within one-club length not nearer to the hole all the way here. There’s no buggies or caddies to ‘enlighten’ players but bag carriers is available on request from the army personnel or you can bring your own. A Kancil seems to have got out of control and trapped by the roadside along the stretch after the Igan - Matu junction to the ferry point, at one of the few sharp bend.

According to a resident staying nearby, the accident happened at around 4.30 pm the day before, Feb 28.
